Known as the “Faithful City” due to its loyal support of the King, Worcester suffered greatly in the Civil War leaving the Cathedral in a poor condition. Mention the name Worcester and generally people think of Lea & Perrins, Worcestershire Sauce and Royal Worcester Porcelain, however lesser known is Worcester’s glove trade. Until the late twentieth century at least three large glove manufacturers including the Milore factory where the gloves were made for the late Queen Elizabeth II Coronation.
